I WISH for help with food

I have to pay my electric bill which is $300 this month and another deposit because my bill is so high for $215. I have proof of both bills if anyone would like to see. My husband only makes $400 a week. We are behind in our rent so each week we pay $220 to our landlord and after food, gas and what ever other bill is due we are usually broke. Well with both electric bills due pretty much at the same time we can't pay any rent let alone food. I have been looking for a job with no luck. I just need help with a weeks worth of groceries to help us out. I have tried several times to get foodstamps and they deny us because they say my husband makes too much. I have called food banks, and went to a few but everyone is all out of food. Any help would greatly be appreciated. The grocery stores close to me are Sweetbay, publix, Winn Dixie, Aldis, and Walmart Supercenter

    There is a food pantry on Bloomingdale in Valrico that is open on Tuesday nights from 5-7. Have you tried coming over here?

    I found the Li-Heap contact info for my county so I will try and call them tomorrow. I have tried for rental assistance but they are out of funds, My landlord is very understanding and knows that I have to pay these two bills so he is working with us. Thank you for all the info!

    Contact Li-Heap for help with electric as long as you heat or cool with electric, they will help you out. It is a federal program. You can google Li-Heap and look for where to call in your area. If you cannot find it, let me know and I will try to get the number for you.

    seems like everyone needs some form of help these days and if you hold your head up high and always ask for what you need you will have a better chance of getting it than someone who keeps quiet. I wish you success and happiness and that you get all your wishes granted! Peace

    You might want to call 211 and see what resources are in your area. You might be able to get electricity (ask about LIHEAP), or rental assistance. I would call ASAP, since most agencies get a set amount at the beginning of the month- and as you can imagine, it goes fast.
    I wish you and your husband all the best of luck, and I am sorry I can't do more than give you some advice right now :(
    You also might want to check out the coupon forum- coupons can really help stretch the money :)
